Moeraki Boulders Sights or Alien Eggs – Dispute Arises

There are numerous myths and legends related with these strange rock developments. The Maoris consider these rocks to be eel wicker bin that were left at the shore after the fabulous kayak, Araiteuru, were wrecked. Some recommend that these circular rocks may have arrived on the beach after a volcanic blast, while others represent some strange speculations about these rocks being alien eggs! The Moeraki Boulders are, accordingly, known by numerous names incorporating ''titan gobstoppers'', ""law breakers" gallstone'', and ''eel pots''. Whatever you may call them, these particular endowments from nature are positively an incredible sight.

The Moeraki Boulders are believed to have been framed throughout the Paleocene Epoch, practically 56 million years prior. They were uncovered practically 15 million years back, when the mudstones holding these boulders were raised from the seabed.

It is evaluated that the biggest of the boulders, roughly 2.2 meters in diameter across may have taken around 4 to 5 million years and 50 meters of marine mud on, to develop to its approximate size and width.
New boulders are uncovered from the mudstone encircle them in, through shoreline erosion. As the beachfront bluffs have eroded, the rocks sheathed inside have been released.

The boulders are riddled with huge breaks on the surface reputed to be "septaria." The lines and splits frequently make the boulders look like turtle shells. They transmit out from the empty center of the boulders and are loaded with yellow or tan calcite, dolomite, and quartz.
